Oil Pastel, Color Pencil
Use of variety of oil pastel colors for the piece while use of black color pencil to show values within certain parts of the piece such as the flag draping down.
This was inspired from varies of reasoning's from the Travyon Martin situation from even speeches I read from Malcolm X and Roy Wilkins. It's of course an African- American child showing his pride within being his race having the African-American flag behind him. It also represents me as a kid but never told anyone on how serious I was with the African- American pride which shows the young child having something covering his mouth. Showing how I was just not saying to much to anyone, keeping it to myself. Also on his shirt it has an title of an speech from Malcolm X that I really enjoyed. More reasoning's behind it and if you would enjoy to know more email me ( rineyaustin@yahoo.com )
